Meet the newest citizen

We know, we know… it's just bad form to let your blog collect dust. That's what happened to ours this year, but we have a great excuse.

Meet our newest citizen, William James Doherty. While the studio is our "baby" too, Will has happily taken much of our focus this year. So while our blog isn't looking great at the moment, 2011 will be remembered as one outstanding year. And here's to a great 2012!

Citizen Studio joins the debate at Design Ethos

Savannah College of Art and Design holds the Design Ethos conference October 7-9 in Savannah, Georgia. This symposium explores how the role and responsibilitis of designers must evolve to work in the sustainable economy. Speakers include some of our personal favorite sustainability design folks, Phil Hamlett (presenting the Living Principles, and John Bielenburg (discussing Project M).

Designing for EARTH

Run for EARTH is a new fundraising program developed by EARTH University Foundation. It allows runners to add a little more meaning to their races by helping to fund the programs at EARTH University in Costa Rica, where students learn sustainable farming, community development, and the path to a sustainable future.

GreenBusiness Works Expo in Atlanta

We followed up our recent trip to Boston for the Green Media Show with attending local sustainability conference. The GreenBusiness Works Expo 2008 was held at Cobb Galleria. The conference an interesting, diverse crowd of speaker/presenters, exhibitors, and attendees.

AIGA Atlanta is holding an event tonight for junior designers looking for their next job. Citizen Studio partner Linda Doherty will be one of six panelists discussing topics including when to leave a job, how to find the right next position, and sharing advice on moving up in the ranks.

Thursday night we heard a great talk and visited afterwards with Brian Dougherty of Celery Design Collaborative. Brian’s been creating sustainable communications for ten years in Berkeley, California and is just finishing up a book called Green Graphic Design.
