Celery at the AIGA Green Salon
Thursday night we heard a great talk and visited afterwards with Brian Dougherty of Celery Design Collaborative. Brian’s been creating sustainable communications for ten years in Berkeley, California and is just finishing up a book called Green Graphic Design.
Celery has an interesting approach to creating sustainable communications. They design backwards, or “for destiny.” They first consider what will happen to a piece of communications after it has served its purpose. That drives their thinking throughout the process, and while the end result is beautiful and effective, you can be sure that it will be recyclable, reusable, or compostable.
We saw Brian speak in Denver at the last AIGA national conference. We’re excited that he came to Atlanta to share his knowledge and passion for sustainable design. Just another reason we love AIGA Atlanta and the sustainability initiative headed by Jerry Burns.
