working smarter, every day.

Citizen Studio is a group of expert communicators that launches, updates, and builds on client brands. Our mission is to find strategies that will help clients reach their business goals; our objective is to connect with your audience. We do it in a way that moves toward sustainability and takes advantage of new choices in media and materials.

Our practice began with the Citizen Studio partners’ passion for living a better, simpler life. We believe in choosing quality over quantity and doing things right the first time. It made perfect sense to apply this philosophy to business. As designers, we solve problems. And wasting resources—whether trees, energy, or client budgets—is a problem.

Citizen Studio projects have been recognized by AIGA Atlanta, HOW magazine, the Printing & Imaging Association of Georgia, Print magazine, and National Public Radio. Several projects have been published in books such as The Big Book of Green Design and Designing for the Greater Good.

The partners are active members of AIGA Atlanta, Green Chamber of the South, and the Atlanta Drupal User Group. For the latest about Citizen Studio, look here.

Linda takes the lead on messaging, establishing corporate identity, and telling a company’s story. With a rich mix of design experience and a passion for sustainability, she excels in building communication programs that make the most of every resource.

She began her career working on corporate identity and annual reports at Nuforia in New York. Clients included E.W. Scripps Co. and MetLife. Later she joined the staff at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum creating print, web, and exhibition graphics. She also freelanced for clients such as JPMorgan and the American Folk Art Museum.

Linda holds an English degree with a minor in fine art from Clemson University and a journalism degree with a minor in advertising from the University of Georgia. She studied graphic design at Portfolio Center in Atlanta, where she has taught various courses and advised graduating students. She currently serves as the sustainability chairperson for AIGA Atlanta (American Institute of Graphic Arts).

Born and raised in South Carolina, Linda appreciates design in everything from furniture and fashion to a hand-painted roadside sign. While her husband Chris is certainly her favorite designer, she also has an affinity for all things designed by Jasper Morrison.

Chris’s mix of creative talent and technical understanding provides clients with high-quality screen-based experiences. His depth of experience and education brings together the disciplines of technology, writing, and design.

He spent the early years of his career in the New York office of Sapient Corp. creating interactive solutions for clients such as Morgan Stanley, LEGO, and Motorola. He is an avid user of the Drupal open-source content management system.

Chris holds an English and fine arts degree from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. After college he worked for three years at Microwave News in New York City, where he honed his writing talents. His experience in publishing exposed him to graphic design, and he completed his formal design education at Portfolio Center in Atlanta. Chris is an active member of the Atlanta Drupal Users Group (ADUG) and the Atlanta chapter of American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA).

A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Chris finds life as a Yankee in the South far more hospitable than life as a Sox fan in New York.
